Angel Office Hours
Angel Office Hours is a system we are building to provide peer review for startups, and a way for startups to connect with investors once a group of peer reviewers think a startup is ready.
Once a startup's peer review score is high enough, that startup is given an office hours session with one of Silicon Valley's best, most well connected angel investors.
The goal of Angel Office Hours is to expedite the fund raising process, and have the angel give feedback on areas the startup can to improve upon. Please remember, Hackers & Founders is a bootstrapped startup itself, and AOH is currently in alpha, there will be bugs in the system.
Angel Office Hours applications will open soon for session
AOH Process Overview
- The AOH process begins when applications open. Members receive an email notification and application information will also be posted on this website and on our Meetup page
- The application is simple and includes just five criteria: pitch, product, team, traction and social proof. See resources for definitions
- Applications are reviewed by screeners from different backgrounds to encourage diversity
- Each application is reviewed by a panel and all applicants will receive written feedback as well as their scores
- High scoring startups receive an invitation to participate in AOH and will be considered for membership in H&F's incubator,
The Co-op
- Startups that don't score high enough to get offered office hours are encouraged to use the feedback from peer reviewers, to iterate, improve their startup and reapply. Our goal is to run applications as often as possible.
- Our goal is to make the AOH process scalable, transparent, fair and helpful to all who apply
AOH Application Review and Scoring
- Reviewers comment and score each field. The five field scores are then averaged and the average determines participation in AOH

- Product: 0, 0.5 or 1 point
- Team: 0, 0.5 or 1 point
- Traction: 0, 0.5, 1 or 1.5 points: this is the crucial category, especially for social media startups
- Social Proof: 0 or 0.5 points
- At present, a score of four or above is required for participation
